About The Position

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students with hands-on experience in various facets of a non-profit, voluntary health organization. The Association offers resources to help maintain work-life harmonization, including access to Heart U, an award-winning corporate university, and local/national training and support. Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in hospitality, business, event planning
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally in a corporate, non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding communications and projects from inception through completion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities with a strong attention to detail.
  • Minimum availability 20hrs/wk, M-F; nights & weekends as needed for signature events.
  • Reliable Wi-Fi connection and reliable transportation.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 9am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Canva and Microsoft Office is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Event Logistics Support for Tampa Bay’s Signature events: Go Red for Women, Heart Ball, and Heart Walk
  • Assist with silent auction preparation, including managing donation forms, taking item photos, and writing item descriptions
  • Assist with day/night of event operations, including set up, breakdown, and sales and payments
  • Participate in weekly logistics meetings to provide updates on assigned projects or tasks
  • Opportunity to learn and be involved in event timeline tracking and vendor selection and contracting process
  • Manage a volunteer database and respond to volunteer inquiries with upcoming opportunities
  • Design or edit slide decks, one-page overview documents, and other supplemental event materials
  • Assist with preparing and mailing external communications
