About The Position

GTI Energy is seeking a Summer 2027 Data Science Intern to join its Modeling and Energy Systems Analytics (MESA) Team. The intern will support enterprise-wide initiatives and ongoing projects in scientific research and technology development, using data-driven modeling and analysis to generate insights and support low-carbon energy systems. The position may contribute to research and tools related to methane emissions mitigation, digitalization in energy, and net-zero energy systems. The role involves exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, data scraping and wrangling, visualization, dashboard creation, and development of energy systems models. The intern will communicate findings through presentations and written reports, work with technical and non-technical colleagues, and participate in team meetings and events. The position is based at GTI Energy Headquarters in the Chicagoland area. The hybrid/core work week requires on-site work Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work Monday and Friday, subject to manager discretion. Some field travel to the Fort Collins, Colorado office may be needed; travel is less than 5%. Work may take place in laboratory, pilot plant, or technical facility environments and may involve outdoor work and exposure to noise, temperature variations, and controlled chemical or mechanical hazards.
