About The Position

This internship is for current students in a 2 or 4 year program in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering, construction management or a related field. The selected candidate will work as a Construction Services Field and Laboratory Technician. This position involves field and laboratory testing of construction materials (soil, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and other materials) associated with a variety of construction projects. Interns will have the opportunity to learn how to read and interpret construction specifications and plans, and to obtain related certifications for construction materials testing of concrete and soil. The job will require working up to 40 hours or more per week during the summer months with the potential for part time work or a co-op in the Fall of 2027. Interns will also have the opportunity to work with our Geotechnical Engineering team conducting subsurface investigations with exploration drilling crews. S. W. Requirements

Current college student in a 2 or 4 year program in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering, construction management or related field.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to complete laboratory and field tests.
General understanding of computers and ability to learn and use new software programs.
Ability to read and learn to interpret construction specifications and plans.
Lifting up to 75 pounds frequently, as well as moving heavier loads.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, and move up and down from kneeling to crouching to bending.
Close, distance, and peripheral vision.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to apply basic math skills for compiling and calculating data.
Reliable transportation.
Valid driver's license.
Active automobile insurance.
Acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with construction and/or engineering concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities
