About The Position

The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing college students an opportunity to be paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experiences that expands their understanding of the industry and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to succeed. The Federal and State Relations team is seeking an intern. The intern’s responsibilities will primarily involve assisting the team in activities related to preparing our state legislative agenda and executing to it during the 90 th Regular Legislative Session in 2027. The intern will gain knowledge of and experience in CPS Energy’s major initiatives and public policy priorities, as well as the legislative process. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in written and verbal communication, time management, and organization. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a related discipline.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Must currently reside within 120 miles of CPS Energy Headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Tracking, calendaring, and monitoring of legislative hearings, congressional hearings, and regulatory open meetings of impact or importance to CPS Energy.
  • Taking notes and preparing reports following hearings and open meetings for internal distribution to senior leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Tracking legislative through TELICON and Policy Note, including helping to obtain subject matter expert analysis, and preparing materials on specific pieces of legislation.
  • Preparing materials for use in communications with legislative offices.
  • Handling requests and inquiries from legislative offices.
  • Attending meetings and/or external events on behalf of CPS Energy
  • Administrative tasks related to the functions of the team and the office.
  • Other duties as assigned
