About The Position

This posting is for the purpose of collecting resumes for students interested in an Engineering internship or co-op opportunity with Consumers Energy. Opportunities could include summer 2027 Internships, fall or spring co-op, part-time year-round co-op, etc. Current college students of all levels will work as part of a larger team to provide hands-on support and design/development for various engineering aspects of our business. This could include work in energy delivery – electric engineering, gas engineering, energy operations, and more. In addition to working alongside full-time employees, Engineering Interns/Co-Ops will have the option to participate in additional optional events within the program, such as intern networking events, company tours, and the Intern Challenge. This role may require reporting to an assigned headquarter, and leaders will discuss work arrangements that best fit the nature of the work along with overall business needs. Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across 68 Lower Peninsula counties. Requirements

  • Actively enrolled and pursuing an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Engineering at an ABET school.
  • Currently pursuing a Master's in Engineering at an ABET school.
  • Currently pursuing an Engineering-related Master's while having completed a Bachelor's in Engineering at an ABET school.
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 2.7 or higher.
  • Must be within commutable distance from the assigned location(s) or willing to find accommodations.
  • Not eligible for immigration sponsorship (H-1B, TN, etc.).
  • Not eligible for CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT.

  • Prior work and/or internship experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support and design/development for various engineering aspects of the business.
