About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across 68 Lower Peninsula counties. The company is committed to delivering reliable, clean, and affordable energy 24/7. This posting is for the Supply Chain Internship Program, designed for current college students interested in Consumers Energy and the energy industry. The program focuses on skill development, ability enhancement, and knowledge application, complementing traditional classroom instruction. This is a general posting to collect resumes for internship opportunities, including summer 2027, fall or spring co-ops, and part-time year-round co-ops. Applications will be collected from September to November 15th, 2026, and responses may be delayed. The company encourages connecting through virtual events or networking. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship (H-1B, TN, etc.) and cannot hire individuals with CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT.

Requirements

  • Enrolled and actively pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in business Supply Chain Management from an accredited university as a student.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-Starter.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with procurement activities including data cleansing, data deep dives, metrics creation and maintenance, material contract bidding, negotiations and awards.
  • Support Supply Chain Operations within the Material Services/Logistics department.
  • Perform support functions and more complex tasks including establishing relative priorities of current anticipated workload, organizing and conducting assignments according to deadlines, tracking of information, maintaining logs/spreadsheets, and other similar support.
  • Prepare special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources.
  • Periodically, evaluate process and program effectiveness and take action to maintain continuous improvement.
  • Participate as an active team member by contributing to program development and organization planning.
  • Perform responsibilities in a manner that clearly shows effective communication and cooperation and that promotes open exchange of information, respect, high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures, and contribute to the safety of co-workers and the general public.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space.
  • Perform tasks supporting Material Services within multiple business operations areas, or split time as needed.
