About The Position

Glynn County is a dynamic coastal community located in southeastern Georgia, renowned for its economic development, tourism industry, and strategic federal and state agencies. With over 900 full-time employees and a commitment to excellence, the Glynn County Government operates over thirty departments to serve its residents and three million annual visitors. The Capital Development Department, led by the Director of Capital Development and Procurement, oversees the daily operations of Procurement, Engineering and the Capital Development Department. The intern will assist the Capital Development Department with development of the County’s 10-Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) through research, data collection, project evaluation, and long-range planning analysis. The intern will also assist with cost-benefit analyses for proposed capital and operational initiatives, support preparation of budget and capital planning documents, conduct a review, audit, and inventory of County-owned assets which could include facilities, fleet assets, infrastructure, equipment, and real property holdings.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research, data gathering, and analysis related to development of the County’s 10-Year Capital Improvement Plan.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and financial evaluations for proposed capital projects, infrastructure improvements, fleet replacement initiatives, and operational investments.
  • Assist in preparation of capital planning documents, budget materials, and supporting information for the County budget book.
  • Perform inventories and audits of County-owned assets, including fleet assets, facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and other capital assets.
  • Review and organize records related to County-owned real property, including land holdings, facilities, easements, and associated asset information.
  • Compile and analyze financial, operational, and asset management data to support long-range planning, budgeting, and capital investment decisions.
  • Attend meetings with County Commissioners, staff, consultants, and stakeholders related to capital planning, budgeting, infrastructure, and asset management initiatives.
