About The Position

The Intern - Broadc ast and Media Relations Intern is responsible for supporting the team’s communications and broadcasting efforts throughout the season. This position works closely with the Manager of Broadcast and Media Relations to assist with the creation and distribution of game-related content, including game notes, recaps, and weekly summaries. The intern will also contribute to live broadcasts by providing color commentary during home games, with potential opportunities for play-by-play duties based on experience.

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled at, or recently graduated from, an accredited college or university pursuing a degree or course work related to the functions of the position. Examples include: Broadcasting, Communication, Public Relations, Hospitality, Event Management, Business Administration, Sport Management, etc.
  • To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

  • Knowledge of adobe creative cloud and broadcast equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the production and distribution of daily game notes, stat packs, and other essential materials
  • Create and post-game recaps for all home and away games
  • Provide color commentary during home game broadcasts
  • Produce and edit the Weekly Warbirds Rewind, including both video and written content
  • Support media relations efforts, including press releases, media coordination, and content creation
  • Assist with press box operations and media setup on game days
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to support promotional and communications initiatives
