About The Position

Revolution Medicines is a late-stage clinical oncology company dedicated to developing novel targeted therapies for patients with RAS-addicted cancers, with a pipeline of RAS(ON) inhibitors currently in clinical development. The Biophysics and Protein Sciences Group supports drug discovery by generating target proteins using heterologous overexpression systems (bacterial and insect cell expression) and various purification approaches (e.g., bulk purification, FPLC, immunoprecipitation). The company is developing a small-scale expression and purification (SmScExpPur) platform to maximize capacity for testing construct designs and rapidly identifying reliably producible proteins. The summer intern will contribute to this effort by conducting experiments to further develop and evaluate SmScExpPur protocols, aiming to enhance protein yield, consistency, and quality. This will involve executing small-scale expression and purification experiments, analyzing results across different constructs and conditions, and providing data-driven recommendations for protocol improvements. The proteins generated will be used for basic quality control assessments to determine protein identity, aggregation state, and folding.

Requirements

Prior hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting.
Strong attention to detail and experimental rigor.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with basic laboratory techniques, including pipetting.
Experience documenting experiments through protocols, laboratory notebooks, laboratory reports, or research papers.
Familiarity with bacterial transformation and/or recombinant protein expression workflows.

Nice To Haves

Experience with insect cell expression systems.
Experience with protein purification techniques (e.g., affinity purification, FPLC).
Interest or experience in protocol development, optimization, or troubleshooting.
Experience with liquid handling or semi-automated laboratory systems.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the ongoing effort of developing and evaluating small-scale expression and purification (SmScExpPur) protocols.
Own a defined set of experiments aimed at further developing and evaluating SmScExpPur protocols.
Execute small-scale expression and purification experiments.
Analyze outcomes across constructs and conditions.
Contribute data-driven recommendations for protocol improvements.
Perform basic QC assessments to evaluate protein identity, aggregation state, and folding using proteins generated through this work.
