Intern / Assistant Track & Field Coach
About The Position
The Intern / Assistant Track Coach will be involved in the day-to-day activities of a D-III track program with a focus on jumps. The role is responsible for assisting the head coach with all aspects of the program including coaching, recruiting, teaching duties, transporting teams to events and tournaments, and additional tasks assigned. The position also involves administrative duties such as coordinating recruitment, scheduling, opponent scouting, and providing customer service. The intern will assist with budget management, event and practice preparation, team travel, equipment maintenance, and adherence to conference and NCAA rules. Additionally, the role supports the improvement of the program and the student-athlete experience, contributes to a welcoming college environment, and performs other duties as assigned by the head coach or Vice President for Athletics.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree required
- Ability to coach, teach, and recruit within the philosophy of Division III athletics and a liberal arts institution
- Demonstrated track, primarily jumps, knowledge
- Dedication to the development of the total student-athlete
- Strong communication and interaction skills
- Strong computer skills
- Is social media savvy
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree preferred
- Previous successful college/high school track and / or coaching/teaching experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Coaching, recruiting, and teaching duties

- Preparation and scouting of opponents
- Providing customer service to student athletes, faculty, administration, parents, fans, and community
- Responsibility for functioning within a set budget

- Team travel arrangements
- Purchasing and maintaining safe and adequate equipment
- Attending conference coaches' meetings
- Knowing and abiding by conference guidelines and NCAA rules and regulations
- Initiating changes that will improve the quality of the program and the experience of the student-athlete
- Performing general duties to ensure the quality, safety, and development of the program and the experience of the student-athlete
- Supporting a welcoming College environment
- Completing duties as assigned by head coach
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics
