About The Position

Intermodal Operations Specialists are responsible for safely performing activities and completing processes that place customer freight for intermodal rail and yard movement according to each Class 1 railroad’s key performance measurements. This role is a cross-trained position with responsibilities including, but not limited to, yard/lift operations, securement, clerical administrative duties, load plan coordination, customer service, driver assistance, safety leader, terminal operating system knowledge, and remote operations. This role also involves cross-training to support grain transloading operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor equipment such as conveyors, augers, gate openers, and loaders to ensure smooth and efficient grain handling.
  • Safely load and unload grain from trucks and railcars, adhering to established protocols.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to verify proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of grain products, shipments, and railcar details.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow, improve efficiency, and minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance and promptly report any equipment malfunctions or issues to management.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment.
  • Assist in the movement of railcars and the operation of rail switches as needed.
