About The Position

McCaw Hall at Seattle Center is seeking friendly, customer-service oriented Ushers to help provide an amazing theater experience to thousands of visitors every day. This role is perfect for students, those seeking supplementary income, and/or anyone passionate about the arts. McCaw Hall is the venue for the Pacific NW Ballet and Seattle Opera, and also hosts concerts, comedians, and corporate events. Ushers are primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service and participating in public safety measures before, during, and after Seattle Center events, including in emergency situations. This is an intermittent/on-call position with hours dependent on event schedules.

Requirements

  • Exceptional reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to take direction well
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure or in highly distracting situations
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with diverse patrons
  • Available to work a minimum of 150 hours annually and meet attendance standards
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and clearly with colleagues and visitors
  • Willingness to meet established dress standards and wear a uniform
  • Basic computer proficiency, including navigating web browsers or mobile apps
  • Must be able to stand in one location for up to 4 hours at a time
  • Must be able to frequently climb and negotiate stairs and narrow aisles
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Position requires hearing and vision acuity, depth perception and ability to function in low light situations
  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment physical

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Direct patrons to seat locations and assist with patron egress by clearing aisles and lobbies following events
  • Respond to patron inquiries and complaints and provide information regarding events and facilities
  • Ensure that aisles, stairways and the floors are kept clear in compliance with safety regulations
  • Communicate with supervisor of unresolved patron concerns, emergencies or unsafe conditions
  • Locate patrons and deliver emergency messages
