About The Position

To maintain continuous instructional progress by accurately executing existing lesson plans in the regular teacher's absence. The successful candidate will establish an organized, safe, and productive learning environment that promotes student focus and engagement. By consistently applying school policies, maintaining firm behavioral boundaries, and cultivating a classroom culture of fairness and mutual respect, the instructor ensures that instructional time is optimized and school standards are upheld.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age
  • Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Certificate (GED)
  • Proven experience in successfully delivering structured lesson plans to students.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching or working directly with school-age children.
  • Comprehensive teaching capabilities across all academic subject areas.
  • Ability to identify and address the various learning styles of individual students.
  • Ability to implement strategies, activities, and techniques that promote quality academic performance and positive social behavior, leveraging students' prior knowledge and experiences.
  • Ability to maintain highly effective classroom management strategies.
  • Ability to use classroom instructional time appropriately, wisely, and efficiently.
  • Ability to apply fair, consistent, and appropriate consequences for inappropriate student behavior.
  • Ability to display strong problem-solving skills, cooperative negotiating skills, and active conflict resolution strategies.
  • Ability to effectively contribute to and manage individual program plans (IEPs/504s) for students with special needs.
  • Ability to create and maintain a classroom culture of absolute respect, safety, and fairness for all students.
  • Ability to demonstrate fair, objective, and ethical judgments in all student interactions and decision-making scenarios.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and structured organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written directions explicitly and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Access plans: Check Frontline substitute notes for daily lesson links.
  • Review materials: Study instructions left by the absent teacher.
  • Report arrival: Present yourself to the Principal upon arriving.
  • Implement lessons: Deliver instruction while maintaining academic integrity.
  • Motivate students: Encourage active participation in all activities.
  • Organize rooms: Structure students effectively for instructional time.
  • Supervise youth: Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of students.
  • Control classrooms: Maintain discipline according to school policies.
  • Protect assets: Prevent damage to students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Manage behaviors: Apply appropriate consequences for negative actions.
  • Report incidents: Inform the Principal immediately of injuries or discipline issues.
  • Support needs: Contribute to individual program plans for special needs students.
  • Respect privacy: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
  • Model equity: Practice non-discriminatory behaviors in all interactions.
  • Dismiss classes: Ensure all students leave before departing the building.
  • Report departure: Check out with the Principal before leaving for the day.
  • Follow rules: Comply with all school and division regulations.
  • Assist administration: Perform other related duties assigned by the building administrator.
