About The Position

V2X is growing! The Project Engineering Department is seeking an Intermediate Project Engineer II for our Platform Systems Integration (PSI) section in Indianapolis. As a member of our Project Engineering Department, you will place a pivotal role in executing and coordinating cross-functional technical projects that define the future of tactical defense solutions globally. This role is ideal for passionate engineers with a blend of technical skill and project management experience who are ready to take on more independent responsibilities. You will help drive successful design, integration, and product lifecycle management in partnership with Systems, Hardware, Software Engineering team members, as well as Production, Supply Chain and Quality Assurance stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and risk management tools; familiarity with project development tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Windchill, or GitHub.
  • Good working knowledge of systems engineering concepts (requirements management, lifecycle, verification/validation).
  • Familiarity with project-tailoring, scheduling practices, cost management, and earned value management principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, both orally and in writing, to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
  • 2–5 years of progressive engineering experience with overlap of some project management responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading or coordinating technical project teams through issue resolution and decision-making.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage project backlogs and release planning.
  • Proficiency with interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Experience supporting supplier management and contract technical compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical project estimation and planning efforts, including developing work breakdown structures, project schedules, and resource/staffing plans.
  • Conduct project assessment and control activities, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and cost baselines.
  • Manage technical risks and support risk mitigation planning throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Actively contributes to resource management, technical decisions, and interface coordination across disciplines.
  • Apply technical and project management principles to define project scope, estimate budgets, and allocate resources.
  • Collaborate closely with functional managers, program managers, and external stakeholders to ensure project progress and success.
  • Provide input to and manage configuration and information management tools for accurate documentation and traceability of technical deliverables.
  • Support technical supplier engagement, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and delivery of high-quality components.
  • Communicate project status, technical progress, and issues to management and customers both verbally and in writing.
  • Work within a matrix organization, supporting the development and integration of requirements, the validation/verification of solutions, and managing change as projects evolve.
  • Contribute to proposal development by assembling engineering estimates and supporting the preparation, writing, and review of proposal volumes.
