About The Position

Shape the World Around You – As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute your technical leadership to impactful, multidisciplinary projects that support safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mining, metals and industrial infrastructure systems. You’ll design and collaborate across teams to deliver solutions that help communities and industries thrive. This position will be located in our Sudbury, Ontario office. At WSP, our Resources subsector plays a vital role within our Energy, Resources & Industry (ERI) sector, delivering end‑to‑end solutions for clients across Canada. For decades, we’ve provided expertise ranging from economic studies and detailed engineering to procurement, commissioning, site management, and mine closure. Requirements

  • You’ve built at least 5+ years of deep expertise in mechanical engineering through hands‑on project work across industrial, energy, mining, or infrastructure environments - ideally with clients within the Sudbury area.
  • You bring proven experience solving real‑world engineering challenges, from equipment specification to system design and integration.
  • You’re comfortable working in the field or onsite as needed and adhere to all safety requirements.
  • You have working proficiency with mechanical design and modeling tools and continuously grow your technical toolkit.
  • You are a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • You care about doing work that matters—to clients, communities, and the world around you.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of pipe stress analysis will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design of mechanical and piping systems, process and mechanical equipment including design and selection of static and rotating equipment
  • Input to general arrangement drawings and layout (2D & 3D) development
  • Knowledge of pipe stress analysis will be considered an asset
  • Perform engineering calculations, review and sealing of documents
  • Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, requisitions and perform technical bid evaluations of process and mechanical equipment
  • Build and maintain client relationships and respond to client requests, travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field reviews as required
  • Always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites
