About The Position

Clifton is seeking an intermediate or Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their growing water resources team in the Calgary office. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic group of Water Science professionals to help grow the team and play a key role in the delivery of professional engineering services for a broad range of projects. These projects will span areas such as geohazards, stormwater management, mine water management, and dam safety assignments. The company is looking for a great team-mate who will support each other, existing clients, and new clients.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with specialization in water resources or environmental engineering, or equivalent.
A minimum of five (5) to fifteen (15) years of consulting experience in water resource engineering.
Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Alberta/Saskatchewan (APEGA/APEGS).
Strong knowledge of water resource engineering practices.
Familiarity with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, etc.).
Strong organizational skills, including effective management of multiple and conflicting priorities with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, in the context of work/life balance.
Ability to work independently and in teams on project assignments, and comfort delegating project tasks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
Continued attention to safety and safe work environments, with a strong workplace safety orientation.

Nice To Haves

A post-graduate degree in water resource management is considered an asset.
A broad range of project experiences is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership in surface water and hydrotechnical engineering.
Leading, coordinating, and working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, providing technical expertise, direction, and mentorship to intermediate and senior staff.
Oversee engineering assessment, design, and analysis for a variety of water management and mining projects.
Work on large, complex, or multidisciplinary projects according to client-approved scopes of work and deliver high quality reports on time and within budget.
Ensure effective task management, including accountability for time, budget, and technical requirements of assigned projects.
Act as the key client service interface and provide technical support to existing Clifton clients.
Actively respond to requests for proposals and qualifications to meet client goals and objectives and develop Clifton’s competitive advantage.
Maintain positive client, sub-consultant, and co-worker relationships.
Participate in business development opportunities, including recruitment of new clients and new sectors of the economy not currently being served by Clifton.
