About The Position

Based in Edmonton, this role supports WSP’s expanding Strategic Advisory, Planning, Landscape Architecture + Urban Design practice across Alberta. You will join a collaborative, creative Landscape Architecture & Urban Design team working across the private, public, and institutional sectors on projects that shape communities and enhance the environment. As an Intermediate Landscape Architect / Designer, you will contribute to projects from concept through completion, supporting design development, project delivery, and proposal efforts while continuing to grow into a leadership role. You’ll work on a diverse portfolio ranging from small to large‑scale initiatives, including urban revitalization, master planning, parks, public spaces, complete streets, trails, transit facilities, infrastructure, and ecologically based landscapes. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across Alberta and Western Canada, including Calgary, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, and Winnipeg.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of professional experience in Landscape Architecture
  • Full Member in Good Standing with AALA (asset) or similar related design education
  • Strong technical capability in core design and administrative software (CAD, Adobe, Microsoft Office)
  • Experience preparing construction documentation including site design, grading, planting, detailing, and contract administration
  • Experience performing field reviews and observing projects during construction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across disciplines
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • ISA Certification
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, SketchUp, Lumion, Revit, Rhino, or GIS
  • Experience meeting with clients and supporting business development in Central and Northern Alberta
  • Additional credentials in Accessible Design, Environmental Stewardship, or related fields
  • Fluency in a second language (French desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Contribute creatively to landscape architecture and urban design projects from concept through construction and contract administration
  • Support and help lead multidisciplinary project teams while mentoring early‑career professionals
  • Develop environmentally responsible, socially conscious, and technically sound design solutions
  • Prepare and support proposal development and business development efforts
  • Communicate design intent clearly to clients, stakeholders, public audiences, and internal teams
  • Participate in project management activities, including schedules, coordination, and financial awareness
  • Strengthen WSP’s presence across Central and Northern Alberta through collaboration and client engagement
