We are seeking a Intermediate GIS Analyst to join our Digital & Project Services team (office-hybrid-remote opportunities available in Canada), for a 8 month contract opportunity. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows. This role involves applying your understanding of GIS to a diverse range of environmental and engineering projects, working in an innovative geospatial environment and team, contributing to projects that make a difference in our communities, interacting and working with a community of technical experts from other Montrose regions, and partnering with extensive, long-standing clients such as municipal governments, conservation authorities, academia, and private industry. You will be joining a well-respected environmental consulting company.

Requirements

  • Possess an undergraduate degree in a related discipline or technical diploma
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of geographic and projected coordinate systems and transformations
  • Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software suite and extensions
  • Proficient with ESRI ArcPro
  • Working knowledge of ESRI Field Maps and Survey 123 data collection services
  • An ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, regulations, drawings and job specifications
  • Have a keen eye for cartographic design and the capability to produce high quality cartographic products
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Industry experience in the Environmental or Consulting space
  • Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions

Nice To Haves

  • ESRI Enterprise Geodatabases
  • ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal) / Online
  • FME or ESRI model builder
  • Acquiring or processing UAV imagery
  • Experience with linear infrastructure projects such as pipelines
  • AutoCAD Map or Civil 3D
  • GIS Programming experience using technology such as Python, Arcade, R, JavaScript, C#, SQL, and related skills
  • Field experience (along with applicable certifications)
  • Experience in project planning and coordination

Responsibilities

  • Creating and editing spatial data and mapping products and performing junior level geospatial analyses in support of our service lines and key areas of work
  • Generating, editing, and maintaining relational geospatial databases
  • Assist in updating and maintaining mapping standards and work processes
  • At times, supporting field activities as a field second (workload dependent)
