About The Position

Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) is seeking an Intermediate Geochemist to support our mining and environmental consulting services. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, or Environmental Geoscience specializing in Geochemistry or equivalent; specialization in Surface Water Quality, Hydrogeology, or Contaminant Transport is also an asset.
  • Minimum four years’ experience related to geochemical analysis.
  • Professional or member-in-training registration (e.g., P.Geo., P.Eng.).
  • Valid driver’s license, Class 5.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with geochemical modeling software such as PHREEQC and Geochemist’s Workbench, Python, R, GIS, database software, Power BI, Goldsim, Leapfrog, Openground, and/or multivariate statistical packages.
  • Experience in environmental consulting and/or the mining sector.
  • Respect for applying a high standard of professional and scientific rigor to all projects and deliverables.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required for projects.
  • Strong initiative, problem solving ability, innovation, and commitment to technical excellence as well as your enthusiasm and drive toward long-term success.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English including your experience in writing proposals, technical reports, and general project correspondence.
  • Team spirit, interpersonal skills and your ability to build long-term, successful relationships with project teams and clients.
  • Comprehension and application of health, safety and environmental principles, and a commitment to quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geochemical analyses of soil, rock, and water samples to assess environmental impact and identify potential risks associated with mining activities.
  • Develop and implement geochemical models to predict long-term trends and assess the effectiveness of mitigation measures.
  • Collaborate with engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists to design and implement monitoring programs and remediation strategies.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Stay current with industry developments, and best practices in geochemistry.
  • Work with junior staff and providing guidance.
  • Complete field work and business travel within Canada and Internationally as Project work requires.
