About The Position

DOF Canada is seeking a detailed-oriented and client-focused Intermediate Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial for supporting DOF's core business initiatives and those of their clients, including light subsea construction, subsea intervention, decommissioning, permanent mooring installation/disconnection, and engineering studies and tenders. The Intermediate Engineer will report to the Project Technical/Engineering Manager and will be involved in various activities such as analyses, reports/document reviews, tendering, and design. A key aspect of this position is the ability to collaborate effectively with both offshore and onshore personnel. This role offers a dynamic environment for learning and career growth within a leading provider of subsea services. The position may involve offshore and/or international travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an applicable engineering field of study (Civil, Mechanical, Ocean & Naval Architecture, Structural, or equivalent).
  • 3-5 years of experience in subsea project/installation engineering.
  • Familiarity with procedural writing as it pertains to offshore ROV construction works.
  • Experience related to the supervision of equipment System Integration Testing and functionality testing.
  • Experience performing project vessel mobilizations and demobilizations.
  • Offshore field experience related to the installation and decommissioning of subsea infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the marine environment and technical challenges associated with executing projects in these conditions.
  • Knowledge of subsea infrastructure components, deployment/recovery methodologies, equipment handling restrictions, and testing requirements.
  • Knowledge of DNV lifting and underwater deployment/recovery codes pertaining to marine operations.
  • General technical knowledge of sea fastening design and analysis (vessel motions & structural design).
  • General knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, best practices, and design codes.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to perform the work required to complete the project on time while meeting client expectations.
  • Willingness to share experiences and teach critical skills/tasks to other team members.
  • Professional demeanor to promote company interests expected always.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Survival Training (BST) would be an asset as there will be offshore work.
  • Either working towards or has obtained a Professional Engineering license.
  • Knowledge of specialized software (e.g., Ansys/Inventor for Structural/Mechanical Engineers, Orcaflex for Hydrodynamics/Subsea Engineers).
  • Analytical and technical capabilities specific to lowering analyses and rigging design would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support DOF's core business initiatives and those of DOF's clients, including light subsea construction, subsea intervention, decommissioning, permanent mooring installation/disconnection, engineering studies and tenders, lift rigging design and lift planning, equipment sea fastening design, and installation analyses specific to these initiatives.
  • Ensure successful completion of assigned project phases within budgeted time and cost constraints, and in compliance with company policies.
  • Help lead regional efforts to develop innovative solutions to client problems that support core business.
  • Support business development and tendering activities as required by management.
  • Actively seek to develop safe, practical, cost-effective, and cutting-edge solutions to project technical challenges.
  • Promote the continual development of the HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) culture and system to minimize risks to personnel, the environment, and equipment to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practical) levels.
  • Promote the company’s organizational culture, values, and reputation with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners, and regulatory/official bodies.
  • Encourage open communication between engineering and operations to foster a healthy and productive culture.
  • Diligently work towards meeting Regional and Departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards.
  • Perform offshore work as required.
  • Execute other engineering duties as directed by third parties in the case of secondments.
