Our Automation & Digitalization team is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical & Controls Engineer to join our Richmond, BC office. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering innovative electrical and control engineering solutions that drive productivity, reliability, and sustainability improvements for industrial customers across North America. This position is well‑suited for an engineer with solid technical experience who can work independently on complex tasks while contributing to project planning and client coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma program in electrical engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal driven but still able to work effectively in a team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Registered as an EIT or P.Eng. in British Columbia
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%)

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting engineering experience
  • Experience in mining and/or chemical industries
  • Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of industrial facilities and develop preliminary engineering designs, equipment evaluations, and cost estimates with moderate independence.
  • Design MV and LV electrical power systems, including room layouts, equipment specifications, grounding, and cable/raceway sizing with minimal supervision.
  • Perform protection and control system design, create settings files, and coordinate with utilities and clients as required.
  • Develop electrical control and instrumentation systems, producing P&IDs, control system architecture diagrams, and instrumentation specifications.
  • Design and program DCS and PLC/HMI applications, including logic development, graphics configuration, and system integration.
  • Lead system checkout and commissioning activities, performing troubleshooting and verifying system functionality on-site.
  • Prepare complete tender and construction packages, including drawings, installation specifications, and supporting documentation, and participate in bid evaluations or contractor RFIs.
