About The Position

The Intermediate Electrical Technologist supports the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and municipal projects. Working under the direction of Professional Engineers, this role is responsible for developing design drawings, performing technical calculations, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, conducting site reviews, and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation or eligibility to obtain CET status is considered an asset.
  • 5–8 years of relevant consulting engineering experience.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary consulting projects is preferred.
  • Experience working on buildings electrical systems within commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or municipal sectors.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of Electrical distribution systems, Lighting and controls, Fire alarm systems, Emergency power systems, Communications and low-voltage system.
  • Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrates strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage assigned project tasks with moderate supervision.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability Status and Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Lighting analysis software (e.g., AGi32), Electrical design and analysis software (e.g., ETAP, EasyPower, SKM) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of electrical infrastructure for buildings and industrial facilities.
  • Ability to contribute to electrical design tasks under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support lighting system design in accordance with codes and project requirements.
  • Produce layouts and technical drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Participate in site visits to gather technical information and validate design assumptions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, technologists, and other team members.
  • Assist senior engineering staff throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Periodic travel to project sites for field reviews and client meetings.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours to meet project deadlines or support construction activities.
