Whether you're just starting out or bringing years of experience, Spencer Engineering offers a unique opportunity to work on impactful projects in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. Your Role as an Intermediate Electrical Technician/Technologist Reporting to the Supervisor of Electrical Engineering, you will join the specialized Mine Hoist Division of BESTECH, operating as Spencer Engineering—one of North America's most respected names in mine hoist engineering. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technician or Technologist who is looking to apply strong electrical design and drafting skills within a highly specialized engineering discipline. Previous mine hoist experience is not required. Instead, we are looking for someone with a solid technical foundation, a passion for solving complex engineering challenges, and a desire to build expertise in systems that are critical to mining operations across North America. Working alongside industry-leading Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Designers, and Technologists, you will contribute to the design, modernization, inspection, and documentation of mine hoisting systems. Your work will combine office-based design with hands-on field experience, including site visits throughout North America to collect field data, verify existing installations, support commissioning activities, and collaborate directly with clients and project teams. No two projects are the same. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex electrical systems, solve challenging technical problems, and develop specialized expertise within one of North America's leading mine hoist engineering firms. Once fully trained, you can expect to travel to client sites for approximately 25% of your time, with the remainder spent collaborating with our multidisciplinary team from our Owen Sound office.
