The Electrical group is a dynamic team that combines engineering and design to effectively support clients. Success in this role requires a solid education in electrical design and a strong set of personal competencies. Being a team player and having the ability to interact effectively with client organizations, other disciplines, vendors, and contractors is essential. The Electrical Designer is responsible for developing technical drawings and wiring details for projects in the energy and chemical industries, working under the supervision of the design supervisor or discipline lead engineer.

Requirements

  • Minimum two year technical diploma in Electrical
  • Minimum five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in an EPC or EPCM environment designing electrical systems and installations for large industrial facilities
  • S3D, Microstation, or AutoCAD proficiency
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse team
  • Be able to multi-task between several areas within a project
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-effective manner

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in use of Intergraph S3D and SmartSketch software
  • SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) experience is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Prepare deliverables including layouts, lists, and conceptual designs in compliance with applicable electrical codes and project specifications
  • Prepare power/control, lighting, and grounding design drawings and associated MTOs
  • Prepare single line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams using AutoCad software
  • Prepare electrical load lists and electrical equipment lists
  • Check electrical drawings and other deliverables
  • Perform squad check of drawings from other disciplines
  • Interface with other design disciplines
  • Perform electrical calculations including lighting and cable tray fill/sizing
  • Review vendor drawings and update our designs accordingly
  • Assist the Design Supervisor as required
  • Other duties as assigned
