Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulator.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including CEC and other local and international standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AutoCAD, and other electrical design software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Familiarity with airport security systems, control systems, and related technologies.
  • Experience designing and managing one or more of the following systems would be an asset: Airfield Lighting Control and Management Systems (ALCMS), Airfield Lighting and Distribution Systems, Field Electrical Centers and Buildings, Parking Garage Electrical Systems, Solar/PV Design and Implementation, Clean Heat Plant Design, Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of electrical systems for airport projects, including airfield lighting, control systems, and distribution systems.
  • Manage electrical design for various infrastructure projects, including field electrical centers, parking garage systems, clean heat plants, and solar/PV systems.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of EV charging infrastructure for new developments.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and reports in accordance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into larger projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, local codes, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in client and project meetings, providing valuable input and insights.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Electrical department through the review and development of standards and templates.
