About The Position

SLR Canada is looking for a full-time Intermediate Ecologist to be based out of our Calgary office. Additional locations in Alberta will be considered for the right candidate. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Experience in wetland identification, delineation, and classification in accordance with the 2015 Alberta Wetland Classification System.
  • Membership (or eligible for membership) as a P.Biol.
  • Familiarity with field sampling and assessment methods.
  • Knowledge of AB/SK/MB species and ecosystems.
  • Availability and flexibility to travel for fieldwork.
  • Wilderness/backcountry experience; comfortable working in a remote field environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, managing large datasets, and conducting analyses using R or other statistical software.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License in Alberta (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Vegetation identification experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support monitoring programs, environmental assessments, and permitting related to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem components.
  • Field work including environmental sampling and assessments: some local, and some remote requiring travel for up to two weeks or more at a time.
  • Environmental data entry, management, and analysis, and report writing.
