About The Position

The Intermediate CP Technician plans and performs technical duties supporting assigned projects, including testing, evaluating, remediating, and installing cathodic protection systems. The role also supports AC mitigation work. The technician works independently with moderate supervision or as part of a project team, following procedures and specifications applicable to the job scope.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in pipeline integrity or the oil and gas industry.
At least 1 year of experience in cathodic protection or AC mitigation.
NACE CP2 certification.
Rectifier training or experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

Follow applicable procedures and standards to diagnose and troubleshoot cathodic protection and AC mitigation system deficiencies, conduct field surveys and assessments, and complete installations.
Maintain detailed field notes and provide field-level assessments of inspection results and recommendations.
Sketch cathodic protection system components and electrical schematics.
Provide technical assistance to other company divisions.
Conduct or supervise field tests—including structure potential, CIPS, AC, DCVG, ACVG, ACCA, line locating, soil resistivity, and current requirements—with minimal support from a senior team member.
Organize and review gathered data and prepare charts and tables.
Test field equipment, software, and testing procedures; log results and communicate them to development teams; and recommend issue resolutions.
Contribute to internal initiatives as required.
Provide training and mentorship to junior staff.
Contribute to continual improvement of the quality process.
Follow corporate, client, and government operating and safety procedures.
Develop trusted business relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
