Requirements

  • Completed University degree or college diploma
  • CIP designation, FCIP designation or working towards completion
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience handling personal lines auto claims
  • 3-5 years’ experience handling commercial long-haul trucking and cargo claims
  • Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wordings, fraud investigations, and coverage issues
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of Guidewire Claims Center preferred
  • Ability to identify, secure, and analyze information with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, time management & negotiation skills

Responsibilities

  • Effectively guide and assist the insured through the claim process, to achieve service excellence and successful file resolution
  • Ensure immediate and effective responses are provided through written/telephone communication to the following: clients, cargo claimants, lawyers, and service providers
  • Responsible for posting reserves and issuing claims payments within authority
  • Demonstrate a deep expertise of the automobile insurance policy and applicable insurance legislation
  • Identification of potential fraud in both first-and third-party claims
  • Complete timely reviews of applicable legislation effecting cargo claims and report to management of any change
  • Manage and maintain file diaries, notes, and documents as per company Technical Guides
  • Review loss reports, letters, and documents
  • Secure policy documentation for proper coverage analysis
  • Review and authorize appropriate repair or total loss settlements within authority
  • Educate insureds on claim process, timelines, expectations for file resolution assistance
  • Negotiating settlement of various claims subject to policy language and jurisdictional legislation
  • Preparation of settlement proposals based on assessments provided by trusted vendors
  • Secure agreements for damages to cargo and third-party property based on legislation-compliant documentation and assessments from trusted vendors
  • Collaborate with peers/other departments such as Underwriting and Accounting
  • Provide ad-hoc and formalized training and mentoring to peers and junior level associates
  • Occasionally provide mentoring to personal lines associates who are seeking to further their career in the commercial operation
