Requirements

  • Teamwork and the ability to support team goals
  • Strong commitment to quality and accuracy
  • Completion of a University Accounting degree and working towards obtaining their CPA designation
  • Development of a business advisor mindset is important
  • Thorough understanding of ASPE, CAS and Canadian Tax to be able to complete the more complex areas of an engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with external clients
  • Possess strong project management skills and organization, with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Caseware, Jazz-it, Tax Prep, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting experience
  • 3+ years experience with tax and audit
  • Experience with IFRS and ASPE preferred

Responsibilities

  • Completion of small audit, review and compilation files and related tax preparation, with assistance
  • Draft corporate tax returns and prepare appropriate tax checklists
  • Prepare personal tax returns including gathering, sorting and entering client information into TaxPrep
  • Responds effectively to client & CRA requests
  • Begin to perform research and prepare more complex opinions for technical conclusions on client engagements
  • Provide suggestions related to an assignment or project
  • In house assignments such as accounting research or office administration
