About The Position

BluMetric is seeking an experienced, motivated and detail-oriented intermediate Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team at our Ottawa Office. This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact by ensuring accurate and timely financial operations while contributing to the overall success of the company. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work independently while supporting broader business objectives. You will play a key role in month end close, financial reporting and compliance. This is an existing vacancy within the organization.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 7 years combined experience in full cycle accounting and financial reporting/analysis.
  • Superior knowledge of Excel and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to embrace technology for continuous improvements.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, strong commitment to meeting deadlines, and effective decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with high credibility at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivator with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and dashboards for Executive team.
  • Perform variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Prepare or review monthly journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Understand and assist with the review of subledger accounting entries by working closely with AR, AP, and the Project Accounting team.
  • Manage transactions related to joint venture accounting including: Ensuring agreements are in place and properly setup in the system, Coordinating with Project Accountants and Project Managers for accurate financial information
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly published financial statement and MD&A.
  • Participate in the development of fiscal year budgets and forecasts to meet business goals.
  • Participate in cross training with the payroll department to enhance process coverage and ensure continuity of payroll functions.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS guidance, company accounting policies, and internal control procedures.
  • Support management in completing financial reports, special projects, and analyses.
  • Proactively look for innovative processes & reporting improvements.
