About The Position

This is an opportunity for an Intermediate Accountant to join a boutique accounting firm providing tax, accounting and advisory services to a diverse client base across Australia. The role will suit someone with local public practice experience who wants to build stronger technical foundations, work closely with firm leadership and gain exposure to more than routine compliance work. You will work across companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs, SMEs, large corporations and family groups, with exposure to tax planning, key tax issues and broader client support. Our client is a boutique accounting firm delivering personalised tax, accounting and advisory services. As an Intermediate Accountant in the Business Advisory team, you will support clients across compliance, reporting and broader tax matters.

Requirements

More than 1 year of local business services experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good attention to detail and a practical approach to client work
Ability to work in a self-directed environment
Strong research skills and willingness to build technical depth

Nice To Haves

Desire to complete CA or CPA qualification
Experience with Xero and Practice Manager will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs
Working across tax matters including GST, CGT, FBT and Div 7A
Supporting tax planning and key tax issue resolution
Maintaining asset registers, journals and reconciliations
Working with large corporations, SMEs and large family groups
Researching and interpreting taxation legislation, rulings and related guidance
Liaising with the ATO on behalf of clients, including lodgement extensions and payment arrangements
Managing and administering matters across your client list
Attending relevant training courses and professional development events
