About The Position

La-Z-Boy is hiring an Interior Designer in Grove City, Ohio, to lead its In-Home Design program and deliver personalized solutions that reflect the company’s people, processes, products, and brand. The role translates clients’ needs, lifestyles, preferences, and budgets into design concepts and recommendations, conducts in-home consultations, and supports sales teams with design expertise. It contributes to the store’s financial performance, team development, operational effectiveness, customer experience, and community reputation.

The Interior Designer works with clients and Sales Associates to create functional, cohesive spaces using furniture, fabrics, and décor. The position also coaches and supports sales teams, promotes the In-Home Design program, prepares tailored presentations, and helps maintain operational and visual standards. It reports to the Store Manager of the assigned location, with indirect influence over the sales team.

Training pay is $20 per hour for 2–6 weeks, without commission. After training, base pay is $26,000 per year, plus uncapped commission on written sales (3.5% on La-Z-Boy Design Sales and 2% on other sales) and a monthly bonus opportunity of up to $2,000. The stated average annual earning potential after training is $60,000–$90,000 or more, inclusive of base pay, commission, and bonus. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week and may require evenings, weekends, and holidays according to business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Two to three years of experience in sales or interior design, with a residential emphasis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and computer-aided design programs.
• Financial understanding, interpersonal communication, analytical abilities, goal orientation, team management, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Promote the La-Z-Boy In-Home Design program and develop potential design solutions and customized portfolio presentations for clients.
• Achieve annual operating benchmarks and personal objectives, including store and individual design sales goals.
• Schedule and conduct in-home consultations to understand clients’ needs, preferences, and vision.
• Partner with Sales Associates and clients to understand their style and lifestyle and create inspiring spaces using furniture, fabrics, and décor.
• Provide professional design consultations, including layout planning, finish selections, and product recommendations.
• Translate clients’ lifestyles, tastes, and budgets into actionable design recommendations and digital presentations.
• Coach, train, and support sales teams in design culture, product knowledge, sales techniques, strategies, and in-home design performance.
• Collaborate with the team to support operational excellence.
• Ensure proper execution of systems and administrative procedures and adhere to legal, efficient accounting practices.
• Support store management with weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings, special projects, and promotions.
• Uphold brand visual standards and help ensure employee and customer areas are clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
