About The Position

Ethan Allen Retail, Inc. is seeking 1-2 design professionals for their Avon Design Center in Avon, Ohio. This market leader combines cutting-edge technology with personalized service to create custom-crafted furnishings. The ideal candidate is driven, works well in a team, and is passionate about both design and sales. Ethan Allen offers the unique ability to service, install, and deliver across the country. This role rewards individuals who are inspired to operate their interior design business within Ethan Allen's proven program. The position is full-time, on-site, and requires weekend availability. The Design Professional works with clients in the studio, remotely, online, and in their homes to create individualized design solutions using Ethan Allen products and services. The scope includes space planning, fabric coordination, product selection, and overall residential project design. Success is measured by developing individualized designs and achieving performance goals in a flexible, relationship-based selling environment. Performance categories include teamwork, customer service, communication, decision-making, project development, presentation, and technical skills. Professionals are expected to develop community connections, including with the trade and related industries, and market themselves across multiple channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a design-related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year of practical interior design experience, OR five (5) years of experience in a related field.
  • Broad knowledge of interior design and effective sales techniques.
  • Working knowledge of online sales and design tools.
  • Good listening skills with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • General understanding of how to utilize social media and grass-roots marketing to develop a book of business.
  • Valid driver's license, or ability to establish an alternate means of transportation for business hours.
  • Intermediate skill competency using digital floor planning technology.
  • Experience using interactive technology to view design concepts such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and other visualization tools.
  • Willing and capable of learning new technologies.

  • 3D applications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create design solutions consistent with customer preferences and budget.
  • Sell Ethan Allen's products and services.
  • Represent the Ethan Allen brand in all customer interactions.
  • Professionally greet customers in the design center to establish rapport and obtain appointments and in-home consultations.
  • Conduct home calls to evaluate customer needs and provide individualized design solutions that close the sale.
  • Utilize grassroots marketing and social media platforms to develop and grow business.
  • Educate customers about Ethan Allen's complimentary design service.
  • Stay current on design and color trends to create fashionable design solutions.
  • Coordinate with the team to provide exceptional customer service before and after the sale, keeping customers informed of order status and any delays.
  • Participate in all corporate-sponsored marketing and training programs.
  • Educate customers on Ethan Allen-sponsored finance options.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of the design center's portfolio.
  • Utilize corporate systems and technology for designing projects, creating presentations, and providing professional service.
  • Enter orders using the retail point of sale system.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly design center projection.
  • Collaborate with the Design Center Leader/Design Sales Leader and Design Consultants to develop business plans and marketing plans to expand market reach and exceed goals.
  • Provide suggestions to modify plans based on reaching specific goals and objectives.
  • Utilize technology such as 3-D Room Planner, CRM, and Live Chat to build project volume and productive client relationships.
  • Use social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) to enhance personal and Ethan Allen's presence.
  • Build relationships with outside talent via social media (e.g., LinkedIn) to expand market network.
  • Perform any other required duties.
