About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Interim 3rd - 8th grade Science Specialist for our Hoboken campus. This is an interim full-time assignment starting in August 2026 and ending December 2026. Contract duration is from August 31, 2026 through December 18, 2026. Standard work hours, benefits, and paid time off as per the Faculty/Staff Handbook.

Requirements

  • Experienced teacher with a successful track record teaching science to 3rd through 8th grade students.
  • Professional who is energetic, has a positive attitude, and is a self-starter.
  • Works collaboratively in a small community and can instill confidence in the program with parents.
  • Creative and flexible with organizational and broad-based student management skills in a variety of groupings from 1:1 to small group or whole section.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills support your development of interpersonal relationships with students, faculty and families.
  • Culturally competent with effective organizational and classroom management skills.
  • Brings creativity and a collaborative approach to your craft.
  • Models a spirit of collaboration and inquiry which inspires your students to “explore, question and communicate in ways that will shape the future.”
  • Has the strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to develop interpersonal relationships with faculty, parents, and students.
  • Has a passion for teaching and fostering student engagement in learning with and through educational technology.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and resourcefulness and is motivated to grow and collaborate with others.
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of classroom experience
  • Flexible and resourceful
  • Skilled writer and communicator
  • Proficient with using technology (Google Suite, Smartboard, Chromebooks, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Completed masters degree preferred in science content area

Responsibilities

  • Implement progressive education practices and hands-on, inquiry-based approach with real world application
  • Motivate and stimulate children's learning abilities through a range of experiences
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) integration
  • Create a safe environment for students to ask questions, take risks, problem solve and communicate their thinking.
  • Develop curriculum with knowledge of assessment practices
  • Maintain written records of individual student development, which includes competency checklists and narrative comments on reports.
  • Work with colleagues of diverse backgrounds on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment and instructional strategies.
  • Interact effectively and sensitively with a diverse population of students, faculty and parent body.
