This is a part-time position serving the Aspire Bay Area Region. Aspire Public Schools operates a network of high-performing, college-preparatory charter schools serving TK-12 scholars in communities across California. GENERAL SUMMARY: In support of schools in the region functioning as robust community schools, the Regional Program Manager of Community Schools plays a key role in developing, training, implementing, and delivering comprehensive community schools programming for our school sites. This role will work closely with both our Regional Team and school-based teammates overseeing California Community Schools Partnership Programming grants for the design, implementation, and supervision of the California Community Schools Partnership Program's prevention, intervention, and enrichment activities designed to support the holistic development of students, in alignment with Aspire-wide priorities and initiatives. This role will also oversee and host regular Communities of Practice for all schools in the region that hold community schools grants. In close collaboration with all regional teammates overseeing community schools, this impactful role also supports the development of high-quality, org-wide practices aligned with the four pillars of community schools: Integrated Student Supports, Family and Community Engagement, Collaborative Leadership and Practices for Educators and Administrators, and Extended Learning Time and Opportunities.

Requirements

  • Expertise in community schools programming and structure
  • Knowledge of community schools systems and best practices
  • Knowledge of reporting and compliance-related requirements of community schools grants
  • Ability to coach others and improve their practice
  • Exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to manage projects including development, implementation and evaluation
  • Ability to communicate proactively, effectively and provide and act on feedback
  • Strong problem analysis and problem resolution skills using an inquiry framework
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to contribute to a team
  • Understands and applies an equity centered lens in problem solving
  • 5+ years as a teacher, school counselor (or related field), or school administrator, with demonstrated results in the designated content area
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (must renew every four years)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate the Community School Directors' Communities of Practice.
  • Oversee Aspire’s Regional Community Schools Advisory Group, which will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of each school in the region’s priorities for the community schools project, reviewing data across the school sites to identify trends, and cultivating and leveraging regional and community resources so they are efficiently distributed where they are most needed.
  • In collaboration with other regional leaders, build out and oversee the professional development strategy for the region’s Community School programming, with a specific focus on equity, diversity, inclusion, behavioral interventions, social-emotional learning, and MTSS.
  • Collaborate with positions in the region related to Community Schools to complete and progress-monitor school site implementation plans.
  • Collaborate with the School Leadership Team as well as Aspire Public Schools’ regional and home office staff to track programming progress and evaluate the effectiveness of activities.
  • Advise and support on annual grant reports to the California Department of Education.
  • Create the process to establish and develop Community Schools Advisory Committees.
  • Monitor the legislative updates to the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) grant at the state level, and course corrections informed by continuous improvement and school community engagement processes.
  • Assist sites in identifying, cultivating, and formalizing partnerships with community-based organizations and government agencies in the community that enrich the school environment and will provide services for children and families (e.g., mental health, afterschool, summer camps, arts, sports, health/dental, adult programs, mentoring, etc.).
  • Provide sites with resources to facilitate communication among the various community school stakeholders (students, families, school administration, teachers, student support staff, and community partners) to ensure open, transparent communication and information-sharing, supporting collaborative decision-making.
  • Provide resources to support attendance interventions and initiatives, including partnering with internal Operations teams and external organizations to minimize attendance barriers.
  • Support the region through a community schools inventory, engagement, delivery of PDs and on-the-ground coaching and support to teachers, classified staff, and site leaders in the area of community schools.
  • In alignment with Aspire’s equity commitments, work to provide additional resources and or support to Tier 1, 2 and 3 schools.
  • Analyzes site-level data in multiple content areas to identify region-wide goals and trends. In collaboration with regional teammates, co-create region-wide action plans to address gaps, creating opportunities to implement community school practices that reflect data-supported best practices from inside and outside the organization, in support of coherent Aspire and region-wide priorities and initiatives.
  • Builds capacity by training strong lead teachers, classified staff, and site leaders to provide impactful coaching and support to their sites.
  • Support and help develop systems for progress monitoring effectiveness of community schools programming.
  • Identify regional and school progress monitoring systems, frequency and tools to meet programming targets.
  • Participate in regional and school progress monitoring, data analysis and adjustment of strategy and supports.
  • Support and help develop systems for progress monitoring effectiveness of community schools vision and program in alignment with regional, school, and state progress monitoring systems.
  • Analyzes site-level data to identify region-wide goals and trends.
  • Dedicated to organization and region-wide R&D on community schools best practices.
  • Is a collaborative member of the Aspire-wide and region-wide teams and works on org-wide initiatives and priorities to ensure alignment of community schools programming.
  • Participates as a member of the Regional Expanded learning team.
  • Performs additional related duties as required or assigned.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Actively seeks to improve and simplify Aspire’s approach to particular job functions.
  • Comfortable with utilization of technology in a remote environment.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
