About The Position

CLARK Material Handling Company, a 100-year-old global leader in the material handling and forklift industry, is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time temporary opportunity. This position is anticipated to last 8-12 months and will be onsite in our Lexington, KY facility. The role supports manufacturing operations during an employee's active military leave. The Interim Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes for forklifts and Material Handling Equipment. This includes developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods by applying knowledge of product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. The engineer will also analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design equipment and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency. Responsibilities include planning, performing, and coordinating all manufacturing and material functions, with direct responsibility for developing manufacturing systems and documentation. This is an onsite position on the first shift.

Requirements

  • A Degree in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in writing processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience working with engineering bill of materials and engineering changes in a controlled inventory and production environment.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience on CAD system. Preferably NX or IDEAS.
  • Ability to perform basic warehouse functions.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, installations/process sheets, wiring diagrams.
  • Working knowledge and use of computers, Microsoft office and warehouse management programs.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of fork truck design and operation.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US Indefinitely.

Responsibilities

  • Provide directions and support to assigned areas including manufacturing, modification, paint, inventory, and warehouse personnel to meet production schedules.
  • Train employees in proper work procedures and equipment/tool usage.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes and work instructions for the entire warehouse and manufacturing facility, including assembly, modification, paint, weld, and shipping/receiving.
  • Design and document tooling, fixtures, jigs, assembly stations, work benches, and storage racks to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Understand, support, and communicate quality goals.
  • Identify and correct quality issues that negatively affect production efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and correct issues that negatively affect production schedule attainment.
  • Identify and address facility layout and processing issues that negatively affect production schedule attainment or quality goals.
  • Establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment compliant with all regulations.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in direct labor process balance, material flow, and efficient use of space and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot plant-wide problems to minimize delays and loss of production time.
  • Troubleshoot lift truck issues including electrical, hydraulic, material-related, construction, and assembly problems.
  • Create and maintain records such as MSDS (GHS) sheets, processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a system for implementing bill of material changes based on effective dates.
  • Ensure processes are revised to match engineering changes, employees are taught new methods and procedures, and necessary tooling is secured.
  • Support and help enforce all company policies, including safety, housekeeping, environmental, financial, reporting, and discipline.
  • Ensure the production of a quality product at minimal cost.
