About The Position

MSNW Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to join their team and provide leadership and day-to-day HR support. This is an interim position with potential for a longer-term, permanent opportunity. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned HR professional who enjoys being both a leader and a doer, leading and supporting a small HR team while remaining actively involved in the everyday HR needs of a growing organization. The role requires someone who can step in quickly, build strong relationships with leaders and employees, and bring sound judgment, organization, and practical HR expertise. This is an hourly, benefits-eligible position working approximately 30 hours per week with a flexible hybrid schedule based out of their Ferndale, Washington office. The role will generally work 2-3 days per week in the office, with remaining hours worked remotely. The potential for a longer-term opportunity will be determined based on organizational needs and mutual fit.

Requirements

  • Strong HR generalist experience with the ability to independently manage a broad range of HR responsibilities.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising HR team members.
  • Solid working knowledge of Washington State employment practices and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting workplace safety programs and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong employee-relations, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leaves, performance management, and other core HR functions.
  • Comfortable moving between leadership-level conversations and hands-on HR work.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess situations, establish priorities, and take action.
  • A practical, approachable style and the ability to build trust with employees and leaders at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to the HR team.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for managers and employees.
  • Manage employee relations matters and help leaders navigate personnel issues.
  • Support performance management, coaching, corrective action, and documentation.
  • Partner with company leadership on people-related priorities and organizational needs.
  • Help maintain a positive, accountable, and service-oriented workplace culture.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee transitions, and offboarding.
  • Assist with benefits administration, leaves of absence, and other employee programs.
  • Maintain organized and accurate HR records and documentation.
  • Help ensure HR policies and practices comply with applicable Washington State and federal employment requirements.
  • Review and strengthen HR policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Oversee and support the workplace safety program, including safety training, documentation, and ongoing compliance.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable workplace safety requirements, including Washington State L&I/DOSH and OSHA requirements.
  • Support workplace incident reporting, investigation and follow-up, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work processes.
  • Partner with managers and employees to promote safe work practices and strengthen the culture of safety.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, documentation, training, and accountability.
