About The Position

Interim Director of Nursing (DON) / Director of Health Services (DHS) – Contractor. This is a full-time, contract/1099 position requiring travel to skilled nursing and assisted living communities throughout Wisconsin. The role involves providing experienced clinical leadership during leadership transitions, staffing gaps, and organizational change. The interim leader will step into a community, stabilize clinical operations, support staff, and leave the team stronger. Senior Care Solutions is actively building a team of experienced interim leaders for upcoming projects.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license in good standing.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing leadership experience as a DON, ADON, or in an equivalent leadership role within skilled nursing and/or assisted living.
• Working knowledge of Wisconsin long-term care regulations.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Previous interim leadership experience.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid survey readiness.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new communities and lead through change.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Interim DON or DHS for skilled nursing and assisted living communities.
• Lead day-to-day clinical operations while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Coach, mentor, and support nursing teams through leadership transitions.
• Partner with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to maintain exceptional resident care.
• Assess clinical operations and implement improvements quickly.
• Complete required clinical documentation and state reporting.
