About The Position

El Puente is seeking a thoughtful, organized, and values-driven professional to serve as the Interim Assistant Director of the Beacon Leadership Center through November 30, 2026. This temporary leadership opportunity is ideal for someone who is passionate about youth development, community building, and social justice, and who thrives in a dynamic environment where program operations, staff support, and relationship-building all come together. Working closely with the Beacon Director, the Interim Assistant Director will help ensure the successful day-to-day operation of a vibrant community center serving children, youth, families, and adults. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong systems, supporting staff, strengthening programming, and helping the Beacon continue to be a welcoming and transformative space for the Williamsburg community. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in youth development, education, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating programs and supervising staff in after-school, summer, or community-based settings.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a calm and supportive presence.
  • Experience working with children, youth, families, and diverse communities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to relationship-centered leadership.
  • Alignment with El Puente’s mission and values.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency is strongly preferred based on the communities we serve.
  • Experience with funder compliance and data systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with community schools, Beacon programs, or DYCD-funded initiatives is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Beacon Director to oversee daily operations and administrative systems that support effective program delivery.
  • Maintain organized systems for attendance, participant records, staff files, data entry, and communication.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational, health and safety, and funder requirements.
  • Supervise Administrator-on-Duty (AOD) functions, including building operations, communication, safety procedures, and end-of-day closeout.
  • Support staff scheduling and coverage planning.
  • Assist with financial and administrative tasks, including invoices, check requests, timesheets, and budget tracking.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and organizational events.
  • Collaborate with the Beacon Director to design and implement year-round programming for youth, adults, and families.
  • Help ensure programming reflects El Puente’s mission, values, and contractual goals.
  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and support to staff.
  • Monitor curriculum implementation across arts, academics, health and wellness, leadership development, and social justice.
  • Support and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Step in to lead workshops or activities with large and small groups when needed.
  • Coordinate logistics for field trips, including bookings, transportation, and staffing ratios.
  • Co-lead outreach and recruitment strategies to engage participants and families.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and cultural partners.
  • Support parent engagement and family participation.
  • Represent the Beacon as a welcoming and responsive community resource.
  • Participate in El Puente’s leadership collective and staff development opportunities, including the Global Justice Institute.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to advance El Puente’s broader social justice vision.
