About The Position

The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The administration is leading the fight in making the city more affordable, reducing inequality, improving public safety, ensuring delivery of efficient and effective services, and working to make New York City’s economy stronger. The Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing on engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long term project – we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers and we are building a City that works for all of us.

Requirements

  • Motivated, a self-starter who can manage complicated projects with minimal guidance.
  • Nuanced understanding of complete and shifting relationships, context of hierarchy and specialization.
  • Thoughtful, strategic, and clear communicator.
  • Enthusiastic collaborator.
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities OR a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above OR a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate complexity and fast-moving work while maintaining close attention to detail.
  • Help OME staff and other government staff move shared work forward, even when there is ambiguity.
  • Communicate with multiple stakeholders, inside and outside of government, inside and outside of OME, with thought and deference to rank and expertise.
  • Operationalize workflows for Interagency Team and OME staff.
  • Support in build and manage relationships with key partners for Interagency Team and OME staff.
  • Identify gaps and work with OME staff members to develop materials and systems to fill gaps.
  • Other duties as required.
