About The Position

This role sits on the web presence team, part of the Creative Team at Notion. Web presence is responsible for our public facing website, Notion.com. We exist to create a high quality baseline for Notion’s reputation in the world and to our users. We aspire to make the site a dream to make, edit and visit. Our team is a small group of designers and engineers serving creative needs across the company and pushing forward our unique and beloved brand. As an Interaction Designer, you’ll operate as a design leader on high-impact web initiatives: setting direction from early strategy through final execution, partnering closely with engineering and marketing stakeholders, and raising the bar for craft and systems. You’ll be trusted to define approaches, resolve ambiguity, and influence both project outcomes and how the team works.

Requirements

10+ years experience in an agency or in-house environment, with demonstrated leadership on complex, high-impact work
Bright ideas about the future of design tools and prototyping
Outstanding portfolio of relevant, consumer- and/or enterprise-facing work that demonstrates impactful design strategy, craft leadership, shipped outcomes, and tough no-ship calls that had to be made.
Ability to thrive in ambiguity and early-stage ideas, turning nebulous prompts into clear direction, crisp execution, and measurable results
Strong product and systems thinking: you can define scalable patterns, maintain coherence across many patterns, and balance brand needs and business goals, usability, and performance.
Deep commitment to typographic excellence, and sensitivity to the most minute details
Excellent partnership skills: you can work hand-in-hand with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders, drive alignment, and make pragmatic tradeoffs
Inspiring presentation and communication skills, with a habit of proactive communication and high-quality documentation
Demonstrated ability to mentor others, raise the craft bar through critique, and create leverage for the team
You don’t need to be an AI expert, but you’re curious and willing to adopt AI tools to work smarter and deliver better results

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end design for major surfaces of Notion’s website, driving strategy, execution, and quality across multiple projects and timelines
Translate ambiguous goals into clear experience direction, information architecture, and interaction models that scale across pages and campaigns
Set a high craft bar: typography, layout, motion considerations, and systems-level consistency across the site
Build and evolve design systems, prototypes, and tooling that improve velocity and consistency for the broader web presence team
Write production code that powers Notion.com
Influence cross-functional stakeholders (Creative, Product Marketing, Comms, Brand, Product) by articulating rationale, aligning on tradeoffs, and driving decisions
Mentor and raise the bar for other designers through feedback, critique, and patterns that make great work repeatable
