The IPS counselor must also assess the appropriateness of the placement and work with the referring agency in the event the placement is not in the best interest of the child. The IPS Counselor utilizes a variety of interventions and supports to stabilize a placement, including behavior management, social skills development, parenting, childcare, household management, anger management and other skills as needed or as assessed during contact with the youth/family. New hires must be willing to be trained in TARGET (Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide for Education and Therapy) and demonstrate proficiency.
