About The Position

This position plays a vital role in supporting individuals with complex behavioral and mental health needs to remain safely in their homes, schools, and communities—reducing the need for hospitalization, out-of-home placement, or involvement with the legal system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with severe behavioral challenges, autism, or mental health conditions
  • Ability to remain calm, responsive, and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet agency compliance requirements
  • Completion of Safety Care Training Curriculum
  • Completion of CPR
  • Completion OF IBT CBI Training Program
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or related field
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to obtain within specified timeframe
  • Training in crisis intervention (e.g., CPI, Safety-Care, or similar)
  • Experience with dual diagnoses (developmental disabilities and mental health conditions)
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), safety plans, and crisis protocols with high fidelity
  • Provide intensive, in-the-moment behavioral support during acute episodes (e.g., aggression, self-injury, elopement)
  • Utilize trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to de-escalate and stabilize individuals
  • Collect accurate, real-time data on behaviors, antecedents, and outcomes
  • Support development of functional communication, coping, and self-regulation skills
  • Maintain a safe environment for clients, caregivers, and team members
  • Assist with crisis prevention and intervention, including use of approved safety procedures
  • Collaborate with caregivers, therapists, school personnel, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development
  • Document sessions, incidents, and progress in accordance with agency and regulatory standards
  • Support community-based interventions, including outings, school support, and transition planning
  • Respond appropriately in situations that may involve emergency services or law enforcement
