The New York City Business Integrity Commission (BIC) is a regulatory and law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the trade waste industry and the City’s public wholesale markets. Businesses seeking to operate in these industries within the City of New York must, by law, apply to BIC and be approved by BIC for the requisite license or registration. BIC’s goals include: to keep industries free of organized crime and other forms of corruption; to ensure that regulated businesses are able to compete fairly; that customers receive equitable treatment, and that regulated businesses do not present a harm to public safety and conduct their affairs with honesty and integrity. Under direct supervision, the candidate will be responsible for conducting confidential background investigations of applicants.
