About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Integration Specialist to support the integration of healthcare applications and systems across the organization. This role will focus on developing, maintaining, and optimizing interfaces using HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, and other healthcare interoperability standards. You will work closely with vendors, internal application teams, and external partners to ensure seamless data exchange and support for clinical workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience with HL7 interface development and support
  • Hands-on experience with FHIR APIs and RESTful services
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data formats
  • Familiarity with interface engines
  • Experience working with EHR systems
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and data privacy best practices

Nice To Haves

  • HL7 certification (e.g., HL7 v2 Certified Control Specialist or FHIR Proficiency Certification)
  • Experience with cloud-based integrations (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Understanding of SMART on FHIR applications
  • Familiarity with IHE profiles and clinical data models

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy HL7 and FHIR-based interfaces between clinical and operational systems (EHRs, LIS, RIS, PMS, etc.)
  • Support real-time and batch data exchanges using standards such as HL7 v2/v3, CDA, and FHIR
  • Monitor and maintain interface engines and troubleshoot data flow issues or interface failures
  • Collaborate with application owners, vendors, and project stakeholders to gather requirements and implement integration solutions
  • Analyze clinical workflows and advise on integration points to improve system interoperability
  • Maintain documentation on interface specifications, data mappings, and integration architecture
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with HIPAA, security policies, and healthcare IT standards
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing cycles, and validation of interface performance
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on healthcare interoperability standards
