About The Position

Nemours Children's Health is seeking an Integration Solutions Engineer (Clinical Data Exchange) to join our team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day support of all Health Information Exchange (HIE) activities at Nemours, working to advance interoperability with external healthcare organizations, referring physician practices, regional and state Health Information Exchanges, government agencies, and other entities. The position involves rolling out enhancements and implementing new functionality to support patient care and population health initiatives. The engineer will establish new connections and maintain existing integrations with other health systems, the Social Security Administration, the Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN), HealthShare Exchange (HSX), and the Florida HIE. A key focus is improving the content of external clinical documentation brought into local charts. Leveraging Epic's Care Everywhere platform, the integrations engineer will provide analysis, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support for all HIE activities and initiatives, including query-based records exchange and Direct messaging. This role also collaborates with Privacy and Health Information Management teams to ensure appropriate use of functionality and assists with patient questions and opt-out requests.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both technical and professional capabilities have been clearly demonstrated is required.
  • Application specific certifications must be acquired and maintained.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Must reside in one the following states to be considered for remote work: Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas or Virginia.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with query-based records exchange and with Direct messaging standards
  • Experience connecting to national frameworks such as TEFCA, Carequality and eHealth Exchange
  • Two years of experience working with the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) and ability to comfortably navigate patient charts and review clinical data in encounters and results
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes primary engineer role for projects as designated by supervisor which may include: assisting project manager in the coordination of project plan activities; ensuring timely and effective communication between all members of the project team regarding daily status and issues; and preparing go live and sign off documents and processes.
  • Provides daily support for existing integration solutions, including modifying, testing, validating, and documenting system changes. Adheres to normal change control processes for these activities.
  • Day-to-day system administration of various integration tools including performance tuning, system monitoring, problem investigation, and application upgrades.
  • Proactively identifies process and procedural issues and suggests potential solutions and engages teammates or other teams as required.
