About The Position

The City of Plano is seeking an integration professional to support the ongoing system integration between different departments. The primary goal of this role is to ensure seamless data transfer between departments, utilizing Mulesoft as the middleware. This involves not only developing integrations but also managing system downtime, error handling, implementing retry mechanisms, preventing duplicate transactions, and performing functional aspects like communication and information gathering.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in software development, systems integration, API development, or a related technology field.
  • Hands-on experience developing enterprise integrations using MuleSoft Anypoint
  • Strong understanding of API design and development, including REST and SOAP.
  • Experience designing and implementing integrations across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience with data transformation and common data formats such as JSON and XML.
  • Understanding of enterprise integration patterns and the ability to select appropriate integration approaches based on business and technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of authentication and security technologies such as OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS, certificates, encryption, and secrets management.
  • Experience with source control and CI/CD processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot integration failures, investigate root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, business partners, vendors, and project teams.
  • Professional experience developing and supporting MuleSoft integrations in a production environment.
  • Experience with the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including Anypoint Studio and API management and runtime capabilities.
  • Experience implementing API-led connectivity and enterprise integration patterns using MuleSoft.
  • Experience with DataWeave transformations and MUnit or other automated testing approaches.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, streaming, or publish/subscribe models.
  • Experience with SFTP or other file-based integration patterns.
  • Experience integrating with SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, including Connected Apps or Platform Events.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise applications, databases, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and technical staff to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective, maintainable integration solutions.
  • Participate in solution design and architecture discussions and provide practical technical recommendations that align with enterprise integration standards and best practices.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support integrations using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
  • Develop, publish, and consume RESTful and SOAP APIs and maintain API specifications, contracts, and supporting documentation.
  • Build integrations across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises systems using real-time, batch, file-based (SFTP/FTP), and event-driven approaches.
  • Apply enterprise integration patterns, including API-led connectivity, service-based integration, messaging, and event-driven architectures, as appropriate to the business and technical requirements.
  • Develop data mappings and transformations using DataWeave and work with common data formats including JSON and XML.
  • Implement reliable and resilient integrations using appropriate error handling, logging, monitoring, retry, timeout, and fault-tolerance strategies.
  • Implement secure integrations using industry best practices, including OAuth, JWT, certificates, SSL/TLS, encryption, and secrets management.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, source control, deployment automation, and release management processes across development, test, and production environments.
  • Monitor and support production integrations; investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and participate in incident resolution and problem management activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, API specifications, integration design documents, and operational runbooks.
  • Communicate technical solutions, integration designs, and implementation approaches clearly to project managers, business analysts, business stakeholders, vendors, and other technical staff.
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of integration development practices.
  • Contribute to integration standards, reusable components, governance practices, and development best practices across the organization.
