Integration and Test Engineer, Electrical

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Anduril Industries is seeking an Integration and Test Engineer with a strong electrical focus to join the Maneuver Dominance team at its Costa Mesa headquarters. The role will help develop and scale Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) capabilities for an early-stage autonomous air vehicle program. The engineer will design, build, and sustain HITL systems, including their architecture, procurement, harness diagrams, breakout boxes, switching mechanisms, PCB designs, and troubleshooting processes. The position works across simulation, hardware integration, software development, and system-level testing to enable reliable, repeatable testing on physical systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with software, systems, simulation, and hardware engineers, as well as electrical engineering technicians, and will contribute to HITL software architecture, test frameworks, and testing practices. The role operates in prototype and experimental environments and requires a strong safety mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautics Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field.
  • Experience architecting, developing, and sustaining HITL/Ironbird labs for Group 4 or 5 UAS, aerospace, or defense vehicle integration and test environments.
  • Hands-on lab debugging experience with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and other electrical test equipment.
  • Experience with diagnostic and protocol analysis tools such as Saleae Logic Analyzers, Wireshark, PEAK-System CAN interfaces, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of software/hardware interfaces, networking, and electrical bus protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, and MIL-STD-1553.
  • Experience leading and troubleshooting LRU-, subsystem-, and system-level integration and bring-up of electrical systems, harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience designing harnesses, breakout boxes, simple PCBs, and switching mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices involving power, batteries, and ESD.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience developing configuration-management processes for LRUs/harnesses and test tools such as logging, diagnostics, and debugging utilities.
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot across software and hardware boundaries.
  • Ability to understand and contribute to HITL and test software frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Python, C++, Linux, GitHub, and Jira.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Nix.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance in the United States, United Kingdom, or Australia is described as desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain HITL/Ironbird electrical infrastructure connecting simulation software to hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Develop system architecture, including harness diagrams, breakout boxes, switching mechanisms, and PCB designs.
  • Support procurement, physical stand-up, configuration, and maintenance of open-loop and closed-loop HITLs, including integration of hardware, compute, networking, sensors, and other components.
  • Troubleshoot real-time simulation issues during HITL operations, including timing constraints, hardware interface problems, and model fidelity discrepancies.
  • Develop diagnostics and telemetry debugging capabilities to provide system-state visibility and improve troubleshooting of integration and test failures.
  • Coordinate harness builds and other electrical tasks with electrical engineering technicians.
  • Develop fault-injection capabilities for evaluating system behavior under controlled failures and degraded conditions.
  • Develop configuration-management tracking tools to maintain consistent and reproducible HITL configurations.
  • Automate HITL health checks, setup, configuration, deployment, and test execution to reduce manual effort and improve repeatability.
  • Understand and contribute to HITL software architecture and test frameworks.
  • Establish testing best practices that make HITL systems a reliable part of the development and integration lifecycle.
  • Work with software, systems, simulation, and hardware engineers to identify and resolve integration and test issues.
  • Follow established safety procedures and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in prototype and experimental environments.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, available at little to no cost to employees.
