About The Position

Spectrum Resource Group (SRG), a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, Spectrum Resource Group is an integrated vegetation management (IVM) solutions provider with expertise in vegetation management, forest management, and reforestation. We provide these services to federal, provincial, regional, local and Indigenous governments, to the forestry, energy, mines, petroleum, transportation and utility sectors, and to numerous regional invasive species organizations across Canada. Potential for work that extends past the IVM season.

Requirements

  • AB/SK/MB Pesticide Applicator Certification (5 year), or provincial equivalent.
  • Provincially relevant first aid or equivalent.
  • Current and unrestricted Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract with less than 6 demerits.
  • Ability to acquire the required provincial pesticide applicator or exterminator license.
  • Ability to work outside and in a range of weather conditions.
  • Physically fit to work and walk in a rough terrain area.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast paced, and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work away from home for shifts.
  • Attention to detail and data driven.
  • Candidate must be comfortable with regular travel for work purposes.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Natural Resources, Forestry or Environmental. (asset)
  • 1 years’ experience in vegetation management would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to identify invasive plants is considered an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in using a chainsaw is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-work site, vegetation, and weather assessments to support safe and effective vegetation control operations.
  • Apply herbicides and other vegetation control treatments in accordance with labels, regulations, and annual chemical rotation requirements.
  • Operate and maintain spray trucks, UTVs, backpack sprayers, brush cutters, chainsaws, and other specialized vegetation management equipment.
  • Coordinate work with site representatives, including advanced scheduling, sign-in procedures, permit requirements, and daily safety compliance.
  • Identify safe spray patterns, avoid overspray, and work around active industrial and rail infrastructure.
  • Complete detailed field records, permits, post-application reports, and photo documentation for treatment tracking and warranty follow-up.
  • Monitor treatment efficacy and complete follow-up or touch-up work as required.
  • Travel to multiple sites and support vegetation management operations across various regions and jurisdictions.
  • Maintain required applicator licenses, safety certifications, and rail qualifications where applicable.
  • Other duties as required.
