Integrated Science Affiliate Instructor
About The Position
This posting is for a pool of applicants for affiliate faculty positions in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver). These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. The role involves teaching courses in Integrated Biology and Earth Science (SCI 2600) and/or Integrated Physical and Chemical Sciences (SCI 2610). The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences offers undergraduate programs in Applied Geology, Environmental Science, Geography and GIS, and Meteorology, and is equipped with advanced research and teaching facilities. Requirements
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and/or any EAS related discipline.
Responsibilities
- Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
- Preparing course materials and lesson plans.
- Grading student work.
- Providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner.
- Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
- Providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
- Providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies.
- Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
- Adapting and learning new modes of instruction.
- Being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
